The NCAA College Basketball tournament which is nicknamed "March Madness" happens usually around the 3rd week of March and then a load of the tournament games usually happen all over multiple national television channels. The tournament begins with 64 Schools competing in different regional areas, as it is one and done, so that means you "Get One Shot Do Not Miss your Chance to Blow It's Opportunity that comes once in a lifetime." Well sorry for the Eminem Quote, but the point is in the tournament it is best of one, win or lose. It goes down to 32 teams and then 16 which they called the Super Sweet 16, and then the Elite 8, and then the final four and then the National Championship. Always play at your full best and intensity is always the exciting thing to watch, and even the unpredictability where you have no idea of who may be the winner, and even the song, "One shining moment" is the very awesome theme song to celebrate the champion or I shall say the winner of the tournament. The lyrics of the song I feel matches the purpose of the tournament and what it means to compete and being glad the song that has been written by David Barrett.
This years tournament had ups and downs, and unfortunately my bracket was busted where I was going for Duke to win the whole tournament and with the nail biting games they had which left me to wonder as their opponent gets tougher are they going to get knocked out of the tournament. Duke did got knocked out the tournament in a close game against Michigan St., after surviving two narrow games, where they could've lost. For them to fall against Michigan St. Spartans was a very unfortunate lost. The tournament this year I feel had games you didn't want to miss because the games even though had low scoring defensive games but still had a load of unpredictability and even you were unsure who was going to win the tournament and I could say I had to see and look carefully as I analyze the match ups of each and every game, and see who's going to win based on their strategy and tendency. The tournament had unexpected final four competitors which were Texas Tech vs Michigan St., and Virginia vs. Auburn., the winners of the final four end up being Texas Tech vs. Virginia, and the game went to overtime where the winner of the championship was earned by Virginia.
Virginia for those including myself have not known, in the 2018 tournament Virginia was knocked out in the first round suffering the most brutal upset as they were the first #1 seed to get knocked out by a #16 seed and the #16 School was UMBC, as they lost 54-74. Another thing probably haven't known they had to endure the embarrassing upset for a whole year, and the fact that the upset had to resonate with them for a year was quite impacting. Seeing them rebound a year later with very few people expecting them to go to the championship including myself and I was even skeptical about them going to the final four, even though I picked them to go to the final four, and the did went to the final four. Seeing Virginia just strive to make it far to final four was just the beginning and them going to the championship was a major bounce back from last year and just continue to prove people wrong by just striving to win games really shows a team don't dwell on last year and even they just prove a new year can bring in a new team. The previous games where they had narrowed victories especially on Auburn who also didn't expect to make it to the final four. But for them to make it all the way to the championship and even win it is one of the biggest surprises especially silence hecklers and doubters.
What I got out of the Virginia turnaround season well really tournament. You got to start fresh and really focus on the New Year where we are in the new tournament and we can't dwell on last year. When I got into my match in high school in wrestling I was nervous but I didn't focus on my other losses and felt defeated and feel like oh I am going to fail, I just got into the match going on right now and I just started to wrestle and then eventually got my pin, and felt excited and glad to finally get what I have been fighting for. Hearing doubt and hearing heckle and mocking should be a way to fuel you up to fight for a win or even prove them wrong and your self wrong as well to get you very successful, and be at your best.
